Public transport in Czech Republic

The trains are the best means of transportation in Czech Republic. The network is very well developed. Trains link major cities even during off-peak hours, when buses are very rare. Train speed is very high for the main sections of the railway network, but may decrease a lot on secondary sections that are not modernised yet. The basic price for a train ticket is double than the price for a bus on the same route, but trains have a complicated discount system that brings you major savings if  you understand it and use it properly.

Czech Republic has a good bus network, that links most of the cities. Prices and speed are similar to the trains. Buses are very reliable, even more reliable than trains for some remote destinations.

It is possible to travel by plane in Czech Republic, but there are airports only in Prague, Brno and Ostrava. Trains and buses are simply more practical and even faster, if you consider the check-in and boarding time.
