Cannes, Palme D’Or, movie stars, red carpet – you may think of all these before visiting the famous city. Besides these, Cannes is also a famous place for shopping. You can find here boutiques of the famous designers Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Armani, Dolce&Gabbana and exclusive fragrance and jewelry shops like Dior, Escada, Chanel, Bulgari and many others.
The famous designer shops are concentrated in La Croisette area of the city. Rue d’Antibes is the main shopping street in Cannes, with both well known brand shops and tempting confiseries and chocolatiers. You will find on Rue d’Antibes brands like Fnac, Sephora, Zara, Mango, Esprit, Diesel, Darty (for electronics), Kenzo to name just a few. After visiting these shopping areas, you will understand why Cannes is a shopper’s paradise.
Surprisingly for this luxury city, you are going to find some excellent and quite cheap shops on Rue Meynadier. With jeans for only €10 or jackets for only €30, you may wonder if the celebrities also shop here when they run out of money. The flower, fruit or fish markets add color on the shopping streets.
The usual shopping hours are Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. – 7.30 p.m. In high season, many shops do not close for lunch. A marché brocante (flea market) is held every Saturday “Sur Les Allées“, opposite the old port. This becomes a two-day market with the first Sunday of the month. The main daily market is at Forville, which is a big, covered market, that takes up a full long block. A flower market is at the west end of the covered area. On Mondays, Forville becomes a flea market.
