You may probably be wondering what else you can do in Athens besides visiting ruins, cafes, restaurants and experiencing nightlife. Like everybody in our world, you can obviously go shopping!
If you are looking for traditional Greek clothes, shoes or souvenirs, the best areas to shop are the well known Plaka and Monastiraki. Besides these, you can find great quality clothes and shoes on Ermou Street and Athinas Street, the ones that even Greek people buy from.
If you are looking for international brands, you have to go down to Ermou Street where you will find brands like Benneton, Zara or Bodyshop. The street is closed to traffic and is always full of musicians and thousands of shoppers. The most expensive shopping district in Athens is nearby Kolonaki, where you can find luxury shops such as Versace or Bulgari.
Even though it is said that in Athens you won’t find shopping malls, there is one to break this rule, situated on Athens’ ring road, Attiki Odos. It is called The Mall Athens (official website www.themallathens.gr).You will find here a great variety of shops: Adidas, Accessorize, Bershka, BSB, Calvin Klein and many others. The shops are closed on Sundays, like every other important shop in Athens, but the restaurants, cafes, cinemas and parkings are open. You can reach it by underground (Nerantziotissa station), as well as by car, on Attiki Odos ring road.
